‘It will happen’ – Hutton shares resounding Cresswell verdict as Leeds news confirmed
The former Rangers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the German’s comments are “refreshing” to hear
Speaking after the 3-0 win over Watford on Saturday (23 September) and quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds boss Farke singled out Cresswell for praise despite him not playing a minute in the match.
The German insisted the youngster “makes sure that he trains each and every training session with a top class performance” and claimed his “behaviour is crucial if you want to win something”.
Cresswell signed a new contract just last month running until June 2027 but has played a limited role for Leeds despite their relegation to the second tier.
The England Under-21 international has started just twice this season, playing 307 minutes of football in total in the 2023-24 campaign.
Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s always hard to break into the first team as a young player.
“But if you’ve got the right personality and a bit about you, and the other boys take to you – it always helps.
“They want to keep you involved and part of the group. I think that’s always a good thing, and it helps you settle in.
“His time will obviously come at Leeds, it will happen, but it’s good to see that he’s got the right attitude even though he’s not playing at the moment.
“It can be very difficult, so to hear that from the manager is quite refreshing and good for the player.”
