Leeds United are one of the club showing keen interest in signing Manchester United winger Amad Diallo, according to a report from The Mirror.

Phil Hay wrote for The Athletic that the Whites will be looking to sign a new full-back this month, and they could be interested in adding an attacker to their ranks. They have slots available to sign players on loan, and this is one area they could be exploring in January.

The Mirror (printed edition, 18 January) claims that along with Leeds, the likes of Sunderland, Southampton and Middlesbrough are also interested in taking him on loan.

He spent a terrific campaign last season on loan at Sunderland and helped the Black Cats reach the play-off. He was out for four months with a knee injury but has now returned to full fitness.

Diallo impressed heavily on loan at Sunderland last season and he would be a fantastic addition for the Whites if they can manage to convince him.

He is on £28k-per-week wages, and Leeds won’t have problems meeting that either.

It won’t be easy though, as Fabrizio Romano recently suggested that the player has no plans to leave Man United on loan in January. He has spoken with Erik ten Hag and has no plans to leave Old Trafford.

Leeds do have enough options on their wide areas, and as such Daniel Farke can afford to look to bolster other areas of the pitch. The Whites have Crysencio Summerville, Dan James, Wilfried Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony as regular players, and while Diallo would be a fantastic signing, the club can focus attention elsewhere.

In recent years, Leeds United have signed players for Manchester United (James’ transfer comes to mind), on in this case, a deal looks unlikely.
