The Owls looked to be heading for relegation straight back to League One under previous manager Xisco Munoz.

However, the arrival of Danny Rohl as manager has helped bring the club back into contention in the battle for survival.

The January transfer window provides the club with an opportunity to make improvements to the German’s first team squad at Hillsborough.

Here we look at the latest winter market news regarding Sheffield Wednesday…

Vazquez returns to AC Milan

Goalkeeper Devis Vazquez has seen his loan move from AC Milan cut short.

The club confirmed that the Colombian has returned to the Italian giants early, after agreeing a season-long agreement last summer.

Vazquez made nine appearances in the Championship for Wednesday before making his return to Milan.

His last game came in a 1-0 loss to West Brom in October, losing his position in the team following Munoz’s dismissal as manager.

Ipswich pursue Johnson

Promotion-chasing Ipswich Town are reportedly pursuing a move to sign Marvin Johnson this January from Sheffield Wednesday.

According to Alex Crook, an initial £1 million offer from the Tractor Boys was rejected by the Yorkshire outfit.

Wednesday see Johnson as a crucial part of the side, which means Ipswich will need to come back with a bigger offer to convince them to cash in on the forward.

It is expected that Kieran McKenna’s side will return with another offer within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Johnson has contributed three goals and two assists from 13 Championship appearances for the club so far this season
