Jason KelceWhen Jason Kelce walked off the field in Tampa Bay following the Eagles season-ending loss it felt like that was it.

The end of the career of a legendary, fan favorite, absolutely beloved figure in the city was unfolding in front of everyone. Kelce is 36 after all, 13-years deep, and that is ancient in the NFL for anyone, let alone a guy who butts heads with the biggest, baddest dudes on the field on every snap.

He had tears in his eyes. It was emotional. And then came the reports that he had, in fact, told teammates that he was wrapping it up.

But a story from Olivia Reiner in The Philadelphia Inquirer Sunday is cause for pause.

Reiner caught up with Kelce, who was at the Chiefs win over the Baltimore Ravens and shared an emotional embrace with his brother, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce, postgame.

Reiner asked Kelce about the way the Eagles’ season ended.

“As a Philadelphia Eagles, incredibly disappointing season, especially at the end of it,” Kelce said. “And I really, really look forward to next year. I look forward to trying to prove people wrong, especially with some of the recent hires and Nick Sirianni. Jason KelceAnd there’s a lot of things up in the air for the Philadelphia Eagles. But I think that, as a player, you always look forward to go into battle with your guys.”
