Key Nottingham Forest survival point made ahead of crucial Man United test - Nottinghamshire LiveLeeds United are now showing interest in a move for Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall before Thursday’s deadline with the centre-back struggling for game time – and Gary McAllister is a fan.

Worrall has been afforded just five Premier League starts this term – last earning a start in September. Nuno Espirito Santo has preferred the likes of Murillo, Andrew Omobamidele, Willy Boly and others.

But Worrall, 27, is a top centre-back and remains captain of the club he helped return to the Premier League. A player that played 168 of his 226 Forest matches in the Championship – his boyhood club.

Reports now claim Leeds have an interest in landing the defender, who spent time on loan at Rangers during Steven Gerrard’s first campaign – 2018-19. He played 32 times, with McAllister an assistant.

Speaking to Sky Sports back in 2019 about the England U21 defender, former Leeds manager and Elland Road icon McAllister raved about Worrall after he scored in the Scottish Cup against Aberdeen.

“In the last four or five games he has been excellent. I’m unaware of the criticism he has been getting. We just focus on how he trains and how he prepares for games, and he’s been excellent,” he said.

Worrall is a top, top player at Championship level and did well enough in the Premier League when in the Forest side. But he needs a move, with injury earlier this season taking him down the pecking order.
