Stefano Sensi of Inter MilanLeicester City could still seal a move for Stefano Sensi after deadline day.

The Foxes missed out on a move for the 28-year-old after failing to reach an agreement with Inter Milan. Sensi had flown to the UK and undergone a medical as City looked to be closing in on their first signing of the January window, despite manager Enzo Maresca previously admitting that the club would have to sell to buy new players.

City failed to agree a deal with Inter in their attempts to work within a tight financial framework. However, it is possible that City could announce a deal for Sensi in the coming weeks, even after the January window slammed shut last night.Stefano Sensi of Inter Milan

Sensi is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of Italy as he has entered the final six months of his deal at Inter. Players are not allowed to enter into a pre-contract with another domestic team to avoid a potential conflict of interest but City do not fall into that category.

It means that City can negotiate a deal with Sensi ahead of potentially bringing him in on a free transfer in the summer. The Italy international will certainly be looking for a new club after finding himself restricted to four substitute appearances for Inter so far this season.Stefano Sensi of Inter Milan

Meanwhile, the collapse of Sensi’s transfer will be a blow to Maresca’s plans for the remainder of the campaign. City had seen Cesare Casadei recalled by Chelsea earlier in the transfer window while Wilfred Ndidi will remain sidelined for the majority of the season.
