Arsenal have won their first three games of 2024 and they have the chance to end an 89-year wait against West Ham on Sunday.
The Gunners were top of the Premier League at Christmas but a poor end to 2023, which included no wins in three, saw them drop down the table.
However, Mikel Arteta’s side have reignited their title challenge in recent weeks, winning all three of their top-flight games so far this year.
A 3-1 victory over league leaders and title rivals Liverpool last weekend was the pick of the bunch and now they aim to continue their momentum.
Another win against West Ham would not only do that, but it would also see Arsenal achieve something they haven’t done since 1935.
The Gunners have only won their first four games in a calendar year during that season 89 years ago.
So victory at the London Stadium will see them achieve an incredibly rare feat.
And they will be encouraged by the fact they haven’t lost away against the Hammers since 2019.
Since that game, they have won two and drawn two on the road at their London rivals.
However, earlier in this campaign, Arteta’s men were knocked out of the Carabao Cup away at West Ham proving this clash won’t be an easy ride.
