Leicester City’s fine form continued on Tuesday night as they beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at the King Power Stadium.
It was another relatively comfortable evening for Enzo Maresca’s side, who were simply too good for the visitors in the first half, and whilst Wednesday improved after the break, you got the feeling Leicester were in second gear.
The result means the Foxes are 14 points clear of third-place, so it’s now appears a case of when they will win promotion, and it also seems inevitable they will claim the title.
All connected to the East Midlands outfit will be delighted with how the campaign is playing out, but one man who might be frustrated from an individual perspective is Tom Cannon.
Tom Cannon struggles for game time at Leicester
The striker was signed from Everton in the summer, having previously shone in the second tier with Preston on loan.
Nevertheless, with Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka all at the club, the Foxes are well-stocked up top, particularly as Maresca only plays one number nine.
That, combined with an early season injury, means Cannon has been restricted to nine appearances, the latest of which was a ten-minute run out against Wednesday.
To his credit, Cannon has done well when he’s been given an opportunity. His two league goals may not sound impressive, but they have come from just 339 minutes.
Yet, the bigger issue for the 21-year-old is that it’s hard to see how his situation changes.
