Luton are firing themselves up for the relegation battle by using an alternative Premier League table.

The Hatters are currently out of the drop zone by one point, but have a game in hand over the teams around them.

Everton are currently 18th in the Premier League, but that is only because of their 10 point deduction earlier this season.

Without it, they would be in a comfortable 12th place and Luton would be in the relegation zone.

Luton CEO Gary Sweet revealed that league tables without any points deductions are on display at the club.

He told talkSPORT: “We want to stay up without anybody getting any points deducted. We’ve got a league table both at our head office and at our training ground that takes all points [deductions] away.

“You never know what’s going to happen in the season, if Everton find some of those 10 points coming back.

“In our league table, Everton are 10 points higher. We actually want to survive without anyone having any points deductions.

“In an ideal world, certainly no supporter and we as a football club, don’t want to see any other football club docked points because ideally we really don’t want to see football clubs break the rules.”

Luton welcome Manchester United to Kenilworth Road on Sunday, with the Red Devils currently sixth.

Sweet added: “This is exactly what all our supporters have been dreaming of for years and I think a lot of our supporters would probably have never thought there would be a day when they’d see Man United coming here, coming to Kenilworth Road in anything but a cup draw.Luton are in the drop zone… according to their table

“Here we are effectively peers today and two massively different clubs in terms of scale, turnover and size. But actually we are today when we cross that white line, we are peers.”
