Leeds United host Enzo Maresca’s side on Friday evening (kick-off: 8pm) in a crucial clash at Elland Road. The Whites could go within just six points of Leicester with a win as they target automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

The East Midlands club have enjoyed a dominant campaign so far with 78 points after 33 matches. But their 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough on Saturday has opened the door for Leeds after they beat Plymouth, ahead of the top two meeting in South Yorkshire this week.Enzo Maresca celebrates with Kasey McAteer and James Justin

McAllister, however, still believes his former club can break Reading’s Championship points record set during the 2005/06 campaign. He also recalls seeing their top-flight credentials highlighted during a pre-season game against Liverpool last summer.

“I think that’s something realistic for Leicester City, [the points record] without a shadow of a doubt,” McAllister told Betway. “They should have promotion confirmed by March or early April and then can focus on breaking the points record.

“I was in Singapore with Liverpool in pre-season and Liverpool played against Leicester and they looked like a Premier League team. They looked like a team that could move the ball well and created many chances. Their style of play has been impressive and can score goals. Jamie Vardy is showing his experience and has scored some crucial goals for them.”Enzo Maresca celebrates with Kasey McAteer and James Justin

McAllister believes that the promoted teams will be the same teams that came down from the Premier League last season, and believes they will all be well prepared for the top flight.
