Ipswich Town are still going strong in the race for promotion to the Premier League and have already begun eyeing up new players ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the latest reports.
Prior to the side’s fixture away at Millwall in mid-February, Kieran McKenna’s men had managed to pick up merely one win in nine matches in the Championship, causing them to drop out of the automatic promotion spots and as low as fourth in the table.
However, a 4-0 win at The Den, followed by victories against Swansea City and Rotherham United have helped the Tractor Boys pick up speed once more, putting them level on points with Leeds United in second place, missing out only on goal difference.
With some winnable games on the near horizon against the likes of Birmingham City, Plymouth Argyle and Bristol City, Ipswich Town have a real chance of re-staking their claim for a top-two finish amongst three clubs who are aided by parachute payments after being relegated from the Premier League last season.
Now, the East Anglian club are planning for the summer already and have reportedly identified a rising star in Scotland. According to the Daily Record, Ipswich have been keeping tabs on Kilmarnock youngster Bobby Wales’ progress on loan at Alloa Athletic in the Scottish third tier.
Nevertheless, the outlet are claiming that the promotion hopefuls face competition from fellow Championship sides Leeds and Stoke City for the 18-year-old striker who has scored nine goals and recorded three assists in only 18 matches this term for Alloa. Furthermore, his market value is between £170,000-250,000, as per FootballTransfers.

Wales has been tearing it up in the Scottish League One and has now registered more goal contributions this season whilst on loan than any other player currently at Kilmarnock, apart from Daniel Armstrong, showcasing how good he truly is at such a young age.
It’s not surprising that Ipswich Town are interested in acquiring the teenager and only Leeds pose a real threat to signing him given the club’s track record of bringing young talent through the ranks.
