Leeds UnitedLeeds United boss Daniel Farke has named his starting line-up for Friday’s (23 February) Championship clash with Leicester City.

The Whites head into the top-two clash on an eight-game winning run in the league to begin 2024, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.

Farke stuck with an unchanged side on the back of the 2-0 win over Plymouth Argyle last week, as confirmed by the club’s Twitter account [23 February].

While the XI was the same, Patrick Bamford and Jaidon Anthony were back among the substitutes, while Joe Gelhardt and Dani van den Heuvel dropped out of the matchday squad.

Jamie Vardy missing for Leicester City

It comes as little surprise to see Farke stick with the same side that kept the winning run going with a routine win over Plymouth.

Daniel James is pushing for a recall, but Wilfried Gnonto has been in great form, while Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville and Joe Piroe are also making themselves undroppable.

Likewise midfield pair Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara, while the back four – Archie Gray, Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon and Junior Firpo – have been sensational.

Patrick Bamford had been in good form for Leeds United prior to sustaining an injury.

The good news for Farke is that Bamford is back in the squad and will surely play a part from the bench at some point.

One player that definitely will not be featuring at Elland Road is Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who is not part of the visitors’ squad.

Leicester have been the best side in the division over the course of the campaign, but Leeds now have a huge chance to strike a blow and tighten their own grip on a top-two spot.
