James MaddisonConor Coady believes that James Maddison can be an important player for England at next summer’s European Champions, not just because of his quality on the pitch but also because of what he brings off it.

Maddison had a brilliant start to his Tottenham career after his move from Leicester City last summer, with the attacking midfielder arguably being the best player across the Premier League in the first three months of the season.

The 27-year-old has perhaps not been able to hit the same heights since returning from his ankle injury and has looked a little rusty, which is perhaps to be expected, given the length of time that he spent on the sidelines.James Maddison

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that his vice-captain soon returns to his best and helps fire his side to a top-four finish this season.

Irrespective of how Maddison does over the coming months, one would think that the Tottenham man is nailed on to be on the plane for the Euros next summer.

Coady certainly believes that Gareth Southgate cannot afford to leave out the midfielder, explaining that the Spurs star adds a lot to the camp even if he is not playing.
