EvertonTony Cottee has raged about the Premier League’s punishment awarded to Everton, with the Toffees yet to hear the result of their appeal against the 10-point deduction.

A Profit and Sustainability breach at Goodison Park saw Everton handed a 10-point deduction earlier this season, but the club were quick to launch an appeal.

Fans have been patiently waiting to hear the result of the club’s appeal from an independent panel, but many are becoming frustrated after several reported deadlines were missed.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Monday (26 February, 9:45am), Cottee said: “Everton? Who knows… Just make a decision on the points [deduction] – I don’t get it.

“It’s not just affecting Everton, it’s Nottingham Forest too, and all the clubs at the bottom of the Premier League. Then they’re saying, ‘Oh, by the way, if there’s an appeal, we’ll announce the results after the season has finished’.

“It’s absolutely ridiculous. It is not fair on all those clubs, and more importantly, the fans of those clubs.”

Everton facing uncertainty amid Premier League punishmentEverton

It feels as though Toffees fans have been waiting weeks to hear the result of their club’s appeal against the 10-point deduction, with multiple reported deadlines come and gone.

As it stands, Everton are sitting one point above the relegation zone, but Luton Town have a game in hand after the Toffees could only manage a 1-1 draw against 10-man Brighton.

Without the deduction, Sean Dyche’s men would be floating in the middle of the Premier League table, five points away from the top half of the table.

Sean Dyche has been widely praised for his work at Everton.

Although Dyche has already helped the club survive relegation once during his tenure, the wait for the appeal result has been casting a shadow over Goodison Park and could be partly to blame for the poor run of results.

Once this situation is solved, and a verdict has been reached, Everton will be able to put it all behind them and focus on surviving the threat of relegation, which looks like a very real possibility right now.

In other Everton news, a politician has claimed Richard Masters is now engaging in “discrimination” against the Toffees.
