The deal benefits all parties' - football finance expert explains Ratcliffe's Man United takeover - video DailymotionDan Plumley has insisted that Sky will be looking to smooth the relationship between themselves and Leeds United after talks were recently held.

Phil Hay has recently shared that Sky Sports have asked members of staff at Elland Road how to make peace with the fans, who regularly chant against them.

The football finance expert admitted that the broadcaster will be wary of the PR surrounding incidents such as that, with fans often overlooked in these scenarios.

“There is a PR element to this,” he exclusively told MOT Leeds News. The deal benefits all parties' - football finance expert explains Ratcliffe's Man United takeover - video Dailymotion

“We have seen a lot of narrative around changing kick-off times and it not being great for fans, especially with travel and looking at when trains are available and the cost of things like that.

They will be mindful of the PR exercise that sits behind it, of course, the other side of that coin is that Sky are paying money to the league through the broadcast deal which is then distributed to the clubs and every time you are selected for a game on Sky, your revenue will increase because the fee-per-match is not an inconsiderable amount of money.

You’ve got to strike that balance between the fee you get for an extra game on Sky, versus the fan argument to it and that’s what the broadcasters will be looking at and trying to see how they can smooth that relationship in the future, but again, the reality for a club like Leeds United, being in the Championship and being one of the biggest clubs in there, the likelihood is you’re going to be selected for Sky more often than not.The deal benefits all parties' - football finance expert explains Ratcliffe's Man United takeover - video Dailymotion

That’s not great from a fan attendance point of view, the travel and cost that are involved, but that’s the reality of where Leeds are at the minute.”
