Harry Souttar knows Leicester City status 'can't continue' amid transfer talk - Leicestershire LiveLeicester City looked to have secured themselves a great deal when they recruited Harry Souttar from Stoke City in January last year.

The Australia international may have only recovered from a serious knee injury shortly before his switch to the King Power Stadium, but on paper, the central defender looked set to be a valuable addition.

He needed time to adapt to the Premier League though – and this is why the central defender shouldn’t have been too disheartened about the fact he was unable to keep the Foxes in the top flight.

Making 12 appearances for Leicester during the second half of last season, Souttar looked set to be a very important player for Enzo Maresca’s side this term, even with the arrival of Conor Coady from Wolves in mind.

It’s not Coady he had to worry about though, with Jannik Vestergaard and now Ben Nelson seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order.

Souttar, with the Championship experience he has, would have backed himself to be ahead of Nelson in the pecking order and may have been expecting to start alongside Wout Faes or Coady for much of the campaign.Harry Souttar knows Leicester City status 'can't continue' amid transfer talk - Leicestershire Live

Things haven’t worked out for him though and even with the Asia Cup in mind, he has made nowhere near enough appearances for the Foxes during the 2023/24 campaign.
