Texas Rangers pitcher Jordan Montgomery (52) throwsIf Jordan Montgomery’s social media account is any indication of his future intentions, then the Texas Rangers may no longer be in the mix to sign the left-hander to a contract this offseason. The latest bit of news centers around Montgomery’s Instagram page.

Montgomery is rumored to no longer follow the Texas Rangers Instagram page. It appears that the southpaw does follow the New York Rangers hockey team., so there’s that. Kinda the same team. Some are, however, unsure if he ever followed the Texas Rangers, which has been a point of contention with this discussion.

While this latest nugget following a deep dive into Montgomery’s social media is rather intriguing, most Rangers fans have seen the writing on the wall for some time now. Though Monty was key to the Rangers securing their first-ever World Series Championship last fall, the southpaw is seeking a pretty penny in free agency and Texas seems unwilling to meet his demands.

But the Rangers aren’t the only team refusing to play ball with Montgomery this winter. Montgomery is represented by super-agent Scott Boras who’s taken one on the chin this offseason. Typically known for his hardline approach to negotiations, Boras has been forced to relent in recent weeks in order to help secure deals for two other clients in Cody Bellinger and Matt Chapman.

However, both Montgomery and reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell remain unsigned. Both pitchers have recently been linked to the Los Angeles Angels, but Montgomery has been tied to the Boston Red Sox since what feels like December.Texas Rangers pitcher Jordan Montgomery (52) throws

If this truly is the end of the Rangers’ pursuit, the team can tip their hat to Montgomery for helping bring a championship to Arlington and wish him well in his future endeavors. The Rangers have a stable of Dane Dunning, Jon Gray, and Nathan Eovaldi ready to take the mound later this month, and the likes of Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer hoping to return later this summer.

Just do all Rangers fans a favor, Monty. Don’t sign with the Houston Astros. And definitely don’t follow them on Instagram.
