Hull City twice led against league leaders Leicester City on Saturday through Fabio Carvalho and Anass Zaroury only to be twice denied by the evergreen Jamie Vardy.

The Tigers, who had drawn their last three league outings before the visit of the league leaders, caught the eye with a fine display but will have been frustrated with the speed at which Vardy punished them just seconds after Zaroury had fired them in front on the hour.

Liam Rosenior’s men, however, are now seven games unbeaten – their second-longest run of the season – and will now have the best part of three weeks without a game until they play again at home to Stoke on Good Friday which sees them head off to Turkey next Monday for a week-long warm weather training camp before they return for the final nine games.

Saturday’s enthralling contest in front of a capacity MKM Stadium crowd was a key topic of conversation for the panel on the latest episode of the 1904 Club with Barry Cooper, David Burns, David Prutton and James Fletcher. Also up for debate was the ongoing situation surrounding Rosenior’s decision to operate without a striker in his City starting XI.
