One player who has been integral to the Foxes’ successes this season has been Mavididi. The 25-year-old joined from Montpellier in France in the summer for a reported €7.5m and has scored 10 goals and four assists since making the switch from Ligue 1.
But in 2024 he is yet to score from open play. This could be seen as even more of a concern given Leicester City’s lack of consistency of late, and boss Maresca has fired a warning to the attacker.
“Stephy has to improve. a little bit, his body language,” he said to Leicestershire Live.
“It’s part of the season where he’s not been at his best. For some weeks, he’s been very good. It’s something normal, when you are in March and you play almost 45 games, between Championship, Carabao Cup and FA Cup. They are human beings and sometimes during the season they can be tired. It is what it’
Leicester City need Mavididi back to his best and quick. They have won just one of their last five in the Championship and so they will want to get back to form and strengthen their league position.
Given how much of an impact Mavididi has had in the first half of the campaign, in order for the Foxes to get back to winning ways on a consistent basis, they will need one of their star players back to form too.
With nine games left to play the Foxes still have to play three of the current top six. Maresca’s stance to fire somewhat of a warning to his player is a bold one, but one that he will hope works in his side’s favour soon, especially with tough games on the horizon.
