Boost for West Ham as Steidten remains a Hammer but Moyes future still in doubtWest Ham United will get to keep technical director Tim Steidten beyond this summer after Liverpool decided to look elsewhere for a sporting director.

There were concerns the Hammers would struggle to convince Steidten to remain at London Stadium after links with a move to Anfield emerged as part of a restructuring plan.

However, the Merseyside giants have opted to move in a different direction, re-signing former sporting director Michael Edwards but in a higher role as the club’s chief executive of football.

This development comes as great news for the Hammers, who will greatly require Steidten’s invaluable scouting network this summer amid plans for a significant squad overhaul.

While Lucas Paqueta has plugged the gap on the left flank, Moyes continues to face selection headaches, with Ben Johnson occasionally filling in at left wing due to squad limitations.

The 24-year-old right-back is also one of several players who could leave the club when their contract expires at the end of the season, including Aaron Cresswell, Vladimir Coufal, and Michail Antonio.

Centre-back Nayef Aguerd has been linked with a summer exit, but the biggest question mark surrounds the future of the manager whose deal also runs out at the end of the season.

Despite initial talks about a contract extension, a recent dip in form stalled negotiations.

Recent wins against Brentford and Everton haven’t quelled all doubts, especially with a potential Europa League exit looming and a disappointing draw against Championship-bound Burnley.

The upcoming second leg against Freiburg could be a turning point for Moyes’ future, but it seems he’ll likely be allowed to see out his current contract.
