Carlos Alcaraz’s agent Sebastian Lopez has spoken out after Everton missed the chance to sign the Southampton forward on loan during the January transfer window.
The Argentine, also known as ‘Charly’, joined the Saints in 2023 from Racing Club but fell out of favour under Russell Martin and made a loan to Italian giants Juventus in January.
The Toffees reportedly made an approach for the 21-year-old before he dediced to join Southampton in a £12million deal, but he decided against moves to Everton, Brighton and Crystal Palace.
Seemingly, Everton were interested in him again this past winter window before the move to Juve came about and Lopez detailed the situation.
Speaking to AS on Friday (15 March), Lopez said: “It was because of the development of ‘Charly’s’ career that we asked for the possibility of leaving and they always made it clear to me that it was a loan exit.
“We had some chances with Nottingham, with Lyon, with Marseille. And I had been talking to people at Everton as well.”

There is no doubt that Alcaraz has the potential to be a special player, having recorded eight goals and five assists in 47 appearances.
