Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has done a superb job at Elland Road this season, with the Whites enjoying themselves in the Championship.

But their momentum is now set to be disrupted, with clubs set to break for international football later this month.

There will be plenty of Whites interest, with star winger Wilfried Gnonto the latest to be handed an international call-up.

The attacker will, however, be furious that his call-up has come for the Italy Under-21s, rather than the senior squad.

As per the official Italian Football Team X account (15 March), Gnonto has been named in the 28-man squad for the friendly clashes with Latvia and Turkey.

The winger already boasts 13 senior Italy caps, but he will have to wait to extend that tally after being snubbed by Luciano Spalletti, with the national team meeting Venezuela and Ecuador in friendly encounters this month.

Gnonto has been in superb form at Elland Road lately, with the 20-year-old forcing his way into Farke’s thoughts, having struggled to do that not so long ago.

He would have hoped for a recall to the senior Italy side this month, but is now rapidly running out of time to make the cut for their Euro 2024 squad.

Italy will take on Spain, Croatia and Albania in a very tricky test this summer, with Gnonto surely desperate to be among the group that travels to Germany.

All he can do between now and then is continue his impressive displays at Elland Road, with the young attacker currently on seven goals and two assists in all competitions this season, the majority of which have arrived since the turn of the year.

Another way to impress Spalletti will be to shine for the Under-21s in their upcoming games, with Gnonto surely one of the first names on their team sheet.
