Manchester United could eliminate Manchester City’s hopes of landing their ideal Bernardo Silva replacement by including a special request in any potential deal with West Ham United for Harry Maguire. David Moyes’ side were heavily linked with the England international last summer, with reports surfacing that West Ham may spring another move for Maguire this year.
After seeing a £30million approach collapse last summer, West Ham are believed to be prepping another offer for Maguire. The ex-Leicester City man has been in and out of the side at Old Trafford, with The Sun reporting that West Ham believe Maguire could be available for as little as £15million.
Part of the Hammers’ thinking is that Maguire will have entered the final year of his contract, and while United do hold an option to extend his deal by a further year, they could look to sell the 31-year-old in order to raise funds for their own transfer dealings. But, the Red Devils may also be able to hamper neighbours City’s summer plans, if they can involve Lucas Paqueta in their negotiations.

Similarly to Maguire, Paqueta was subject to transfer interest last summer, with City and Pep Guardiola said to be keen on the Brazilian midfielder. However, after news broke that Paqueta was front and centre of a betting probe, the deal collapsed, with City instead focusing on alternative targets.
