Plymouth Argyle v Leicester City - Sky Bet ChampionshipLeicester City fell to a 1-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Plymouth Argyle on Friday evening.

Enzo Maresca‘s side went behind in the first half after Mustapha Bundu curled home a right-footed strike past Mads Hermansen.

The visitors struggled to really carve out anything of note despite dominating the proceedings, though, two golden chances did fall to Patson Daka who failed to convert.

It was a huge missed opportunity to extend their lead at the summit of the Championship table, particularly with Leeds United and Ipswich Town both failing to win.

A BBC pundit has outlined where it all went wrong for Leicester.

Speaking post-match on BBC Radio Leicester, Matt Piper criticised City for overplaying in the build-up.

“Well there was always an extra pass or an extra two passes,” Piper said.

“Sometimes to open a team up you need that but once we found the ball in a pocket and you get on the back foot and turned and there’s no pressure in front, we didn’t see that quick pass today to release someone in behind and try and exploit the little bit of space that was still there.

“Even though they defended deep at times they still left space in behind as we built the play. The longer that we take to pass the ball forward, like Forshaw did for Bundu’s goal, it allows them to get back in, they drop a little deeper and then all of a sudden the space is suffocated and everything then becomes in front of Plymouth.”
