Everton’s current team need to take a leaf out of Richarlison’s book.

The Brazilian was a team-mate of many of them when he was at Goodison Park. He was injured, he was collapsing on a football pitch because of the amount of effort he put in.

He didn’t play well every week, of course, they’re not robots. But the will and desire was there and the fans loved him.

This group of players now, I don’t see any of them collapsing at the end of the game. All I see is them apologising to each other.

I keep saying: ‘Stop saying sorry, just do the job properly.’ Concentrate on completing your passes – they’re too nice.

There’s no fear factor because even if they don’t perform, they’re not getting dropped. There’s no fear factor for the manager because who is going to sack him? They can’t afford to!

We sort of just floating by, hoping that the teams below us don’t pick us points. We’re sleeping right now and drifting back towards the danger zone.

Not every player likes their manager. The starting first 11 probably does but it will be like that at Manchester City, it will be like that at every club I’ve been at – you’re not going to like a manager who isn’t playing you.
