Everton have confirmed that Harry Tryer has signed a new one-year contract extension with the Toffees, to keep him at Goodison Park until 2026.Everton Jordan Pickford

The Blues announced on their website on Wednesday (17 April) that the 22-year-old goalkeeper, who has been with the Toffees since the age of seven, has penned a new deal to extend his stay on Merseyside.

Tryer has spent the season on loan with Chesterfield, keeping 11 clean sheets in 39 starts as the Spitfires won promotion to League Two from the National League, having previously impressed whilst on loan with Chester.

The goalkeeping position at Goodison Park has become incredibly settled over the last few years, with Pickford one of the more consistent players in Sean Dyche’s side, barring a couple of shaky performances in recent weeks.

While it seems unlikely Tryer will come straight into the first team fold having agreed to a new contract extension, it is good to see that those working behind the scenes are continuing to prepare the Toffees for the future.

Whether or not Pickford will still be at Goodison Park come the start of next season massively depends on whether or not the Blues do enough to keep their place in the Premier League. It’s unlikely England’s number one will want to play Championship football.
