April 17: Appointed LHP Jared Shuster as the 27th man for Wednesday’s doubleheader
Shuster was optioned to Charlotte on Tuesday to make room for Jonathan Cannon on the active roster, but he was brought back for Wednesday’s doubleheader. He has made two relief appearances with the White Sox, allowing one run on five hits with four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings.
The 25-year-old did not appear in either game and was returned to the Knights following Game 2.
April 16: Selected the contract of RHP Jonathan Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte; Optioned LHP Jared Shuster to Charlotte; Designated RHP Josimar Cousin for assignment.
Cannon, 23, will get the start in Game 1 of Wednesday’s doubleheader for the White Sox against the Royals. The No. 11 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, had a 2.79 ERA and 11 strikeouts over 9 2/3 innings for the Knights. Shuster allowed one run over 6 1/3 innings in two relief appearances for the White Sox. He was recalled from Charlotte on April 8.
April 15: OF/DH Eloy Jiménez reinstated from 10-day IL; RHP Nick Nastrini’s contract selected from Triple-A Charlotte; RHP Justin Anderson and INF Zach Remillard optioned to Triple-A; C Max Stassi transferred to 60-day IL
The White Sox get the first of their three big injured stars back with the return of Jiménez, who played the first three games of the season before suffering a left adductor strain. The 27-year-old’s return will be a welcome boost for a White Sox offense that ranks last in the Majors with 34 runs scored in 15 games.
