Leeds’ last three games brought just one point against Coventry City, Sunderland, and Blackburn – a massive wobble at possibly the worst time.

A chance to put things right came away from home at Middlesbrough, who were enjoying a nine-game unbeaten run prior to this meeting.

A seven-goal encounter between Leeds and the Teessiders put Leeds’ promotion bid back on track with a 4-3 triumph.

Emmanuel Latte Lath levelled again for the home side, but Leeds soon regained control as Archie Gray drove through the ‘Boro midfield before playing to Summerville, who slipped a lovely reverse-pass to Willy Gnonto, finishing down Seny Dieng’s near post.

However, the frustration for the home side was that Gnonto was fairly clearly in an offside position, as the linesman was seemingly obstructed in his view by Bamford:
