SAINT LOUIS (KLTV) – Former Mount Pleasant Tiger Michael Kopech earned his first win of the season, as the Chicago White Sox came from behind and beat the St. Louis Cardinals in extra innings Saturday, 6-5.

The righthander entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with the score tied at 5. Kopech struck out Nolan Gorman before hitting Jose Fermin. Brendan Donovan then flew out for the second out of the inning. Kopech walked Wilson Contreras before inducing a groundout from Paul Goldschmidt to send the game into extra innings.

The White Sox scored the go-ahead run in the 10th inning and John Brebbia pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th to give the White Sox and Kopech the win.

Chicago is in last place in the AL Central with an 8-26 record. They continue the road trip Monday at Tampa with first pitch scheduled for 5:50 p.m.
