Minor League Baseball Red Sox: A Few Challenges for the Big Three

Well, this is what happens when using an opener goes wrong. Of course, Uwasawa wasn’t all that great when he came in, either. In his three appearances since being demoted by the Red Sox, he’s allowed six earned runs in 11 innings of work, while striking out only six hitters. He’s just not missing bats.

Pablo Reyes, on the other hand, seems to like Worcester. He homered and stole two bases.

Portland, W 5-1

Just as people start whispering about a Marcelo Mayer promotion to Worcester, he goes 0-4 with two strikeouts. Frankly, this game exposed the two primary reasons why you wouldn’t want to promote him yet: he still struggles against lefties and he’s still striking out more than you’d like.

Speaking of Big Three struggles, Roman Anthony was given the night off. After a hot start to the season, he’s cooled down big time, hitting just .217/.327/.349 over his last 22 games, though he homered earlier this week and is hopefully ready to turn things around.

Greenville, W 6-4

Just one measly little single for Kristian Campbell, but he’s recorded a hit in 10 of the 12 games he’s played in the month of May while hitting four homers.
