Normally, preseason games are more about finding out who will round out the roster for the Seattle Seahawks. Between 2010 and 2023, the same head coach, Pete Carroll, was in place, and for much of that time, Seattle had the same quarterback, Russell Wilson. There was no drama during the preseason only cheering for players who were working hard to make the roster.

Things are a bit different in 2024, though. While there is not a great expectation for a quarterback battle entering the season, 12s cannot completely rule one out. If offseason acquisition Sam Howell is fantastic during training camp then the new offensive coaching staff, who has no more allegiance to Geno Smith than to Howell, might want to see how each does in preseason games before naming a starter.

While the Seahawks’ defensive scheme will likely be much more bland in the preseason than during the regular season, 12s should also be able to pick up on the differences between new head coach Mike Macdonald’s design versus what Seattle has had for most of the last 14 years.

Seattle Seahawks 2024 preseason schedule

In other words, this preseason should be a lot more interesting for 12s than most others in the last decade-plus.

Seattle, like every NFL team, will play just three preseason games. For a long time, teams played four but since the regular season changed to 17 games from 16, one of the preseason games was removed. Since Seattle hosts nine home games during the regular season, only one of their preseason games will be at Lumen Field.

Most of the games can be watched on NFL+ with a subscription if one does not live in the Seattle area while those who do live near Seattle should be able to watch through a local broadcaster (unless the NFL Network picks up one of the games).
