However, the previous campaign was tough, as they finished 19th in the Premier League after a tough year, yet Kompany still did enough to appeal to the German giants.

Burnley managerial latest
Now, attention has turned to his successor, and a host of names have been linked with the vacancy – including Craig Bellamy.
The Welshman was assistant to Kompany over the past few years, but he hasn’t followed him to the Bundesliga, as he instead leads Burnley on a temporary basis along with fellow coach Michael Jackson.
It appears the 44-year-old is ready to take his first steps in management, and the appeal of landing the top job with the Clarets is obvious.
From Burnley’s perspective, they would be getting a driven, young coach who is desperate to prove himself as the main man, whilst Bellamy obviously knows the strengths and weaknesses of the group, having spent the past two years working with them on a daily basis.
Burnley warned off Craig Bellamy move
However, the risks of appointing Bellamy are clear, as he has not yet proven himself as a head coach, and there will be pressure on whoever is in charge of Burnley to win promotion back to the Premier League next season.
For that reason, Clarets’ fan pundit Ben told FLW that the club should look elsewhere, as he urged them to secure a new boss with high-level experience.
“I think he should be a last resort. We’re in a really good position right now where we can pretty much get a good, proven manager in.
“You hear a lot of stuff behind the scenes that Bellamy was trying to do things but Kompany wasn’t letting him. Maybe Bellamy and Jackson could be a good duo, as they both had a massive influence on the team.
