Everton are set to sign young striker Cerian Loney from Partick Thistle, according to The Athletic.
The news outlet reported via their live blog on Friday (7 June) that the Blues are on the verge of announcing the 16-year-old’s arrival from Scottish Championship side Partick.
It is understood that Loney, who is the youngest-ever player to play for Partick, has wowed Everton’s scouts before impressing during a trial period on Merseyside.
The Athletic add that Brighton and other English clubs were keen on the striker, who only celebrated his 16th birthday in March.

Kevin Thelwell and his team will have no doubt done a lot of homework on Loney, who made his one and only appearance for Partick Thistle in their 4-1 defeat to Dundee United last month.
It’s always exciting to see a promising young player join the club but obviously, there’s little chance that Loney will be in Sean Dyche’s mind for the first team just yet.
The Athletic reports that the Scottish striker will join up with the Blues’ youth teams, presumably the Under-18s, because even Premier League 2 is a much higher standard than the league the 16-year-old played in for Partick.
