Luis Guilherme will fly to the United Kingdom on Sunday, 9 June, to seal his permanent signing for West Ham, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist reported on 8 June that he will travel to London on Monday before completing his medical over the next two days.

He will pen a five-year contract at the Hammers, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2029.

Via Twitter, Romano wrote: “Luis Guilherme will become new West Ham player next week, exclusive story confirmed. Luis will fly to England on Sunday. Arriving in London with his camp on Monday. Medical between Tuesday and Wednesday, then time to sign until June 2029.”

West Ham begin the Julen Lopetegui era with Luis Guilherme’s transfer

Guilherme’s imminent signing marks the beginning of the Julen Lopetegui era at the club.

While his signing is a significant move, there are concerns about how well he will adapt to the Premier League, despite being expected to pass his medical without issues.

The transition from Brazilian football to the English top flight can be challenging for young players and there are questions about his ability to handle the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League.

However, his arrival is a positive start for Lopetegui, who will be looking to build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.

Whether or not he starts immediately or is gradually introduced to the team before being a regular, remains to be seen.

Tim Steidten appears to have identified Brazil as a catchment area this summer and it won’t be surprising if more names appear over the coming weeks.
