Leicester City face a difficult task to keep hold of midfielder Wilfried Ndidi this summer as Premier League side Everton join the race for his signature, according to the latest reports.

The Nigeria international surprisingly remained at the King Power Stadium following the club’s relegation from the top-flight last season despite a mass exodus of players during the summer, with the likes of James Maddison, Youri Tielemans, and Timothy Castagne, among others, all leaving.

However, the Foxes reaped the benefits of keeping Ndidi around as the midfield general made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and recording six assists as the East Midlands outfit won the Championship title, earning promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Nevertheless, Ndidi has garnered interest once more in his signature this summer. TeamTalk released a report on Sunday afternoon claiming that Everton are weighing up a move for the Nigerian if Amadou Onana is sold this summer.

The fiscal year ends at the end of the month and the Toffees are hoping to complete one major sale before submitting their accounts. Football Insider revealed last month that the Merseyside club are asking for £50 million for Onana this summer as the Belgian has been targeted by big clubs in the Premier League. Should he leave Goodison Park, Ndidi is said to be Sean Dyche’s preferred candidate to replace the 22-year-old.
