According to journalist Lyall Thomas, Southampton, who was just promoted, has reached a deal to sign a player from Chelsea this summer, and the attacker’s personal terms have been fulfilled.
There is a real difficulty for the sides who break into the Premier League to stay there recently, with the three who came up for last season going straight back down again.
The Saints, who lost Romeo Lavia at the start of last season to the Blues, achieved an instant return to the top flight, and now their next moves are going to be crucial.
It has been claimed that they were looking to Stamford Bridge for one of their key signings, and a player they have had on their books in some capacity before.
Thomas took to Twitter to say that Southampton remained interested in signing Armando Broja this summer, however are financially struggling to get the deal done at this stage.
Southampton interested in Armando Broja
He said: “Wolves, Everton, Southampton all retain interest in Armando Broja this summer but currently cannot afford him due to their financial positions. Would need to sell a player in all likelihood to proceed.”
