Tom Cannon made his full international debut for Ireland in a friendly vs. Portugal. A proud moment for the Leicester forward of course having a special day, despite being defeated 3-0. Cannon came on as a second half sub allready being 2-0 down at the time. Cristiano Ronaldo scored two of the goals for Portugal.

Tawanda Maswanhise came on as a late 2nd half sub in Zimbabwe’s 0-3 defeat to South Africa. Maswanhise (21) was last week released by Leicester, but still in demand in England, late last season spending time with Stockport to try to get a deal with the newly promoted League One club. This was his 3rd full cap for Zimbabwe.

Nigeria surprisingly lost 1-2 to Benin in a World Cup Qualifier. Wilfred Ndidi was in the Nigeria line-up, with released forward Kelechi Iheanacho an unused sub on the bench. Ex Leicester players Ademola Lookman and Calvin Bassey both in the Nigeria starting eleven.

Abdul Fatawu scored for Ghana in their 4-3 World cup qualifier win vs. Central African Republic. Fatawu are now on 19 caps, still just 20 years of age, also doubling his goalscore from 1 to 2. Yunus Akgun was an unused sub in when Turkey was defeated 2-1 by Poland.

Patson Daka played the full game for Zambia in their World Cup Qualification game vs. Tanzania, sadly being defeated 1-0. Harrison Panayiotou played from start for St Kitts Nevis in their 1-0 home win vs. Bahamas. The former Leicester forward is currently playing for Sirens in Malta.

Leuven based Suphanat Mueanta scored for Thailand in their 3-1 home win vs. Singapore. it will be interesting to follow the progress of this 21 year old, as he is closely followed and could soon be moving to Leicester with a promising future in front. He has played 21 full internationals and 8 goals so far. Last season he was important for Leuven, getting a early set back with injuries, but completed 14 league games and scored 1 goal in the great top flight survival of the Belgian team.

Nampalys Mendy came on as a second half sub in Senegal’s 1-0 away win to Mauritania. A great result for Mendy and his Senegal in this World Cup Qualifier.
