Josh Sargent of the United StatesJosh Sargent is a striker who can develop into a ‘top goalscorer on Premier League level’ according to Leeds United boss Daniel Farke. The Whites have been linked with a move for the Norwich City forward this summer as they face up to the possibility of having to replace some of their big names.

Farke signed Sargent for the Canaries in 2021, bringing the USA international striker to England from Werder Bremen in a deal thought to be worth around £7m. With current Leeds forwards Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto and Georginio Rutter linked with moves away from Elland Road this summer, Farke knows he may have to rebuild his forward line in the coming months.

Summerville in particular was a key man in United’s promotion bid last season, but Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be keen on the £35m-rated wideman and, with Leeds needing to balance the books after missing out on a return to the Premier League, it would be difficult to turn down such an offer.

Sargent’s name has now been linked with Leeds, with Farke fully aware of what the 23-times capped forward would bring to his squad. The 24-year-old can play both through the middle and on the right flank, offering options up front that could prove valuable.Josh Sargent of the United States

Farke was delighted to have signed him at Carrow Road, and his quotes at the time illustrate just how highly he rates the striker.

“We’re really happy to have Josh with us, Farke said in August 2021. “He’s at a young age with lots of potential. There was a lot of interest in him, so we must pay many compliments to Stuart Webber for getting this deal done.
