The Danish outlet reported on their website (18 June) claims from TEAMtalk the same day that a £2million sale has now been agreed are wide of the mark, and talks continue towards a price of nearly €2m [£1.69
Trott, 25, only signed a two-year contract extension less than a month ago [The Athletic, 29 May] but his exit has been on the cards for over a week, with the expectation that once it is completed the Irons will bring in Wes Foderingham [Athletic, 10 June].
According to Tipsbladet Trott has a number of suitors in Denmark and in the Championship, with the likes of Brondby, FC Midtjylland and AGF interested after the keeper spent the past two seasons on loan at Vejle Boldklub, but talks with FC Copenhagen are reportedly positive and they are expected to land his signature.
The price may be lower than reported elsewhere but it seems to be climbing from the £1m fee The Athletic had previously quoted which might be a product of the widespread interest in Trott’s services.
Either way it is not going to make a vast amount of difference to the Hammers budget as Tim Steidten looks to restock the squad for Julen Lopetegui.
But for a player who has only made one late substitute appearance in a 4th round FA Cup tie against Doncaster Rovers three and a half years ago, and whose contract had been expiring, it is better than nothing.
Clearly he has impressed enough in 56 games for Vejle Boldklub to catch the attention of multiple clubs in Denmark, while English interest might be more lucrative to West Ham.
Activities around the third-choice goalkeeper position aren’t going to make or break Lopetegui’s first season at the London Stadium, but it appears a Trott exit is now close, so presumably will be the arrival of Foderingham.
In other West Ham news, a club is taking action in an attempt to see off the Hammers who are creating a threat to their hopes.
