Leeds United have been dealt a boost in their hopes of signing Roma star Edoardo Bove as the Italian has been placed on the transfer list, according to reports in Italy.

With the transfer window now open, the Whites have the opportunity to sign players ahead of the 2024/25 campaign. There is a strong possibility that Leeds will lose the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Wilfried Gnonto, among others, over the summer, having missed out on promotion three weeks ago with a defeat against Southampton in the play-off final. As a result, Daniel Farke’s squad will likely be weaker at the start of next season.

Furthermore, the West Yorkshire club have a debt of £73 million that needs to be paid off by the end of the month, while the board still owes £190 million in outstanding credit from recent player purchases. Nevertheless, Red Bull’s minority takeover late last month will have offered some financial relief to the club to allow Farke to bolster his squad over the coming months.

One name on the club’s transfer list is Roma star Bove. It was reported by the Italian press back in mid-May that Leeds United have set their sights on signing the 22-year-old who currently boasts a market value of £15.2 million, as per Transfermarkt.

This transfer saga had gone quiet in recent weeks but now Il Tempo have revealed, via Football Italia, that the Giallorossi are open to selling Bove this summer and have even listed him for sale after the Italy U21s international received very little game-time since Daniele De Rossi took over in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign. Now Leeds could get their hands on the central midfielder who Jose Mourinho once labelled a “sick dog”.
