IMPORTANT NEWS: After games, fans are advised to use caution when crossing Jimmy Hill Way at A444.

Coventry City Football Club and the Coventry Building Society Arena are urging supporters to take greater care when crossing the A444 Jimmy Hill Way following games.

This season in particular, officials at the Club and Arena have noted a number of near misses between vehicles and supporters.

While longer term solutions are being looked into regarding vehicle/pedestrian movement in the area, supporters are being urged to follow the instructions of stewards who are positioned at the crossing nearest to the roundabout.

We appreciate that the volume of supporters crossing in this area has increased and fans can use alternative safe crossing points for the road:

  • Using the light controlled crossing near the roundabout for A444/Winding House Lane
  • Using the footbridge (overpass) over the A444, which goes to Car Park C or the other side of the A444
  • Using the underpass at the other end of Car Park B/C, and then walking back towards Winding House Lane/Hen Lane along the pedestrian footpath

While stewards are in place to manage the exit of supporters and will continue to urge supporters not to take risks when crossing the road, we urge supporters to adhere to our advice and put safety first when leaving matches. We thank supporters for their co-operation.

Meanwhile, upon reviewing the egress phase from the first five fixtures this season, it has been identified that there is vehicular and pedestrian traffic merging on Judds Lane and on Rowleys Green Island.

In the interest of supporter safety, the Coventry Building Society Arena will be holding back Car Park A and closing Judds Lane for twenty-minute post final whistle.

The team at the Arena are working alongside Coventry City Council Road Traffic Team, Coventry City Council, West Midlands Police and Coventry City Football Club,  and once the closure has been lifted they will be releasing Car Park A first to ensure this car park clears as quickly as possible.

We ask that fans in Car Park A follow the instruction of car park attendants when exiting, to help ensure that all supporters have a safe exit from the stadium and surrounding area.
