Pep Guardiola has a reputation for not holding onto players he deems surplus to requirements. Kalvin Phillips’ case exemplifies this – limited playing time at City followed by an underwhelming loan spell at West Ham ultimately led to his exit.

City are reportedly planning a clearout at the full-back position, with both Gomez and Cancelo deemed expendable.
Gomez, despite being at the club for two seasons, has seen minimal playing time (48 league minutes last season) and is attracting interest from Roma. West Ham are also reportedly keen on the 23-year-old Spaniard, who is valued between £12.6 million and £16.9 million.

Surprisingly, even the experienced Joao Cancelo is available for transfer. Despite having three years left on his contract, City are willing to let him go for a relatively low price of £25.3 million following his loan spell away.

West Ham could potentially capitalise on City’s desire to move these players on. Gomez seems like a more realistic target considering his age and price tag.Pep Guardiola catching strays! Manchester City’s full-back clearout presents West Ham with a chance to bolster their defence at potentially good value. While Gomez appears a more attainable target, Cancelo’s availability at a discount price might also be a tempting proposition for the Hammers.
