Chelsea have made fresh contact with Newcastle United over a potential summer deal for striker Alexander Isak, according to reports.
football.london‘s sister title ChronicleLive reports that the club have again made contact with Isak’s club to reaffirm their interest in the Sweden international. It is however said that there is no suggestion that Newcastle want to sell the striker this summer, it has been reported that they will be looking for a fee in excess of £100 million if they do.
The second enquiry comes just hours after Chelsea confirmed a FFP boost with the sale of full-back Ian Maatsen. The Dutch international has completed a £35 million transfer to fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.
Isak is not the only Premier League player Chelsea are interested in this summer. The Blues are also in negotiations with Leicester City over a possible move for midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Isak addressed his future earlier this year. “Yeah, of course I want to be here in the future,” he said back in April.
“I came here for the project, I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home. I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team. I love playing here.” He added: “I don’t want to entertain these type of questions and rumours. It’s not my position.
