Everton defender Ben Godfrey has completed a move to Atalanta.
Godfrey joined from Norwich City in October 2020 and went on to make 93 appearances in all competitions during the next three-and-a-half years.
He made a senior debut in that month’s Merseyside derby with Liverpool and went on to receive international recognition with two senior England caps.
But Godfrey now links up ex-Goodison Park prospect Ademola Lookman at the Europa League winners, who brokered a deal in the region of £8.5 million.
Lyon had also been in the hunt for the 26-year-old’s services but a preferred transfer to Gian Luigi Gasperini’s side was finalised on Friday evening..
Following his move to La Dea, Godfrey penned a farewell message to the Blues.
“[When] I joined the club in 2020, everyone at the club – fans, staff and players – made me feel welcome,” he wrote.
“I’ve made great memories at this football club and will always appreciate my time here.
“Now it’s time to go onto my next challenge. Thanks for all your support. All the best”
