Everton Academy player Aaron Epia signs for NewcastleAaron Epia has issued a classy farewell message to Eveton after completing his move to Newcastle United.

The 16-year-old defender was recently on trial with the Magpies having appeared as a substitute in under-18s matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United.

NewcastleWorld understands Epia was offered the chance to extend his stay on Merseyside but has opted to move to Tyneside.

In a post on Instagram, Epia wrote: “I want to thank all the staff and players at @everton that have helped support my development over the last 7 years, I’ve had a great journey.

“It has been a tough decision to decide but I feel like the time has come for me to find a new challenge, I want to wish the club all the best for the future💙”

One notable reaction to the post came from Blackburn Rovers midfielder Rory Finneran who commented with a clapping emoji. Interestingly, Epia replied with a eyes emoji, suggesting the Republic of Ireland youth international is also on the verge of joining.Everton Academy player Aaron Epia signs for Newcastle

Newcastle are understood to be closing in on the signing of Finneran, who became Blackburn’s youngest-ever debutant at 15-years-old, 10 months and eight after coming on as a substitute in a FA Cup tie against Cambridge United in January.

The Magpies already have a strong Irish contingent in their academy with Alex Murphy, Reece Byrne and Cathal Heffernan among those to arrive in the past two years.
