Everton are attempting to intercept Ipswich’s bid for Hull winger Jaden Philogene, a move that likely ends West Ham’s in the pursuit of the player. Ipswich’s offer of approximately £18 million for the Hull winger was accepted; however, Everton has secured an agreement for a £16 million fee, with indications that Philogene prefers a move to Goodison Park over Ipswich.

Last season, Philogene netted 12 goals and provided six assists for the Tigers in the Championship, helping them to finish just shy of the playoff positions.

Despite the potential loss of £2 million, Hull City finds itself in a position where it can do little, as the player has expressed his preference.

Everton has been active in the transfer market this summer, having completed the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Tim Iroegbunam from Aston Villa for £9 million last month, a player who left a strong impression.

While West Ham has been linked with Philogene over the past month, the club has consistently emphasised that acquiring a striker remains their priority.

West Ham has already made significant strides in the transfer window, signing Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham, and Max Kilman (for £40 million) to bolster various positions.

With rumours of Antonio, Ings, and Cornet potentially leaving the club, West Ham might be looking to add depth and competition in attack. Philogene, with his Championship experience, could be an option to consider.

The success story of Jarrod Bowen, who also came from Hull City, might also be a factor in West Ham’s interest in Philogene but for now, that no longer seems to be an option.
