We went 1-1 in strikeout props on Monday (with one pre-game push) to kick off the week with no blood. Let’s make our way to the green with another three-pack of K props for Tuesday’s MLB slate.
Jameson Taillon under 4.5 Ks (-125 DraftKings)
Cubs at Orioles, 6:35 p.m. ET
Taillon hasn’t been an effective swing-and-miss pitcher this season. The Chicago Cubs right-hander ranks in the 10th percentile in whiff rate (19.4 percent) and the 30th percentile in strikeout rate (19.2 percent). Taillon has gone over this line in three straight starts, but this is a much tougher matchup against the Baltimore Orioles. The O’s have the second-lowest strikeout rate against righties over the last two weeks (17.1 percent), and current Baltimore hitters have just a 13.8 percent K rate against Taillon in 94 combined at-bats.
Chris Sale over 6.5 Ks (-145 Caesars)
Braves at Diamondbacks, 9:40 p.m. ET
We tried to take Sale’s over on Monday night, but he was scratched for Bryce Elder despite being listed as the probable starter all day. Well, the Atlanta Braves left-hander is now scheduled to start on Tuesday night, so let’s try this again at a similar price. Sale has gone over this line in 13 of his 16 starts this season. He ranks in the 95th percentile in K rate (32.7 percent), the 96th percentile in chase rate (35.2 percent) and the 88th percentile in whiff rate (31.1 percent). The veteran uses his slider 40 percent of the time, and seven of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 11 qualified hitters have a whiff rate higher than 32 percent against sliders this year.
Blake Snell under 4.5 Ks (+120 FanDuel)
Blue Jays at Giants, 9:45 p.m. ET
This is a no-brainer of a bet, especially at this price of +120. It’s been a disastrous season for Snell coming off his NL Cy Young campaign. The veteran lefty has a 9.51 ERA and a 1.944 WHIP through six starts, and he’s returning to the mound for the first time since June 2 due to a groin strain. The month off marked Snell’s second stint on the injured list already this season. Snell simply doesn’t have the stamina to handle a full workload right now, and the Toronto Blue Jays are one of the stingiest lineups in MLB at avoiding strikeouts.
