Coventry City have added another new signing to the club’s development squad with the arrival of teenage defender Harvey Broad.
The 18-year-old left-back joins from non-league Chatham Town of the Isthmian Premier League and will go straight into John Dempster’s Sky Blues Under-21s set-up and could be involved in Saturday’s (July 13) pre-season friendly against Leamington at the Your Co-op Community Stadium, kick-off 3pm.
The club said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have agreed to sign Harvey Broad from Chatham Town.
“Broad has agreed his first professional contract with the Sky Blues, as the 18-year-old links up with the development side. The left-back, who turns 19 in September, broke through into the Chatham first team last season, having made his debut before the turn of the year.
“In total, Broad made 17 appearances, winning the club’s Young Player of the Season award for the 2023/24 campaign. Harvey also spent time out on loan at Lordswood FC, where he initially found his first taste of first team football.”
Broad joins fellow new development signings – Cambridge United duo Kai Yearn and Greg Sandiford to the club’s Under-21s squad.
Yearn is a 19-year-old midfielder who made his debut for the U’s at the age of 16, scoring in a 4-1 win over Oxford United in the EFL Trophy to become the club’s youngest scorer in the process.
