Delving a little deeper, and this summer has likely been years in the making, with Kevin Thelwell and Sean Dyche having had to navigate PSR turmoil to figure out when they might be able to spend again.

Two points deductions last season were a shock, but seemingly a necessary evil to take their sanction and move on.

And move on they have, with a whole host of targets that the Toffees are seeking to secure.

Everton submit bid for Wilfred Ndidi

Given Everton have submitted one bid for Davinson Sanchez this summer, and brought in three new players already, it is ludicrous just how active Thelwell has already been.

He warned fans to expect little incomings and major sales, yet here we are racing from transfer story to transfer story.

And the latest comes courtesy of journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who has actually detailed a blow for the Toffees in the market.

Having submitted a bid, the response of the player was swift, as Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is now due to sign a new deal at the King Power stadium.Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City during the Leicester City trophy parade on May 5, 2024 in Leicester, England. He wrote: ‘Wilfried Ndidi decided to stay at Leicester City despite #EvertonFC bid. News supposed to be confirmed by #LCFC in the next days. Confirmed.’

Wilfred Ndidi would’ve made a fine Idrissa Gueye replacement

Although he is no youngster himself, at 27 years old, compared to the 34-year-old Idrissa Gana Gueye, he is still in the infancy of his career.

After all, the Senegal international has seen it all, having been relegated with Aston Villa, played European football with Everton (the first time), left for big money to play alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain only to return to Goodison Park to once again fight the Premier League drop.
