The Guardian, with their well-established connections at West Ham, have dropped a bit of a bombshell that has in a state of disbelief. It seems our club is in the mix to bring N’Golo Kanté, the former Chelsea midfielder who has carved his niche as one of the most respected figures in football, back to London from Al-Ittihad.
At 33, Kanté has not just been sitting pretty in Saudi Arabia; he’s been actively tearing it up and getting back to his best form, as evidenced by his standout performances at Euro 2024 with France. The Guardian suggest that both West Ham and Al-Ittihad are keen to see this deal through, and with Kanté’s open-mindedness about a return to the capital, it’s looking suspiciously likely.
Bringing Kanté on board won’t be a cheap though—we’re looking at a £20m transfer to make this happen. Kante who has 61 caps for France and played a pivotal role in all six of France’s Euro 2024 matches, not to mention his World Cup win in 2018.
